Developing a Culture of Peace and Harmony

Overview
Composite Heritage (CH) is a unique concept of bringing communities together using cultural connectors in our society and emphasizing on the importance of indigenous value systems. It talks about common cultural values and symbols that readily provide sources of connection and ownership to people living together in the same society. CH enables the celebration of diversity in unity, greater tolerance, and acceptance of diversity.
CSC, through this project, will work with mid-level CSOs, University/colleges, Youth networks, Academia (intellectuals, scholars), Intelligentsia (journalists, lawyers, opinion makers), Religious leaders, Peace & Social activists, Media. CSC will engage with this target group to develop an extensive coalition of people and organizations who are able to use the concept of Composite Heritage for the promotion of pluralistic values and peace.
The main expected outcomes of the project are
- Transforming negative, preconceived stereotypes in the society to positive attitudes for greater social interaction and cohesion.
- Broadening the acceptable parameters of Pakistani identity among target groups to form a harmonious whole.
- Developing a greater understanding of, and celebration of, diversity among target groups. This will lead to formation of informal groups who will play a positive role in resolution of conflicts in their areas and so create a peaceful society.
